World Polio Day will be celebrated on 24th October 2018 globally, to generate awareness towards eradication of polio. As well as to consolidate the efforts as thousands of employees of WHO and other volunteers committed to the eradication of Polio.
Polio is a highly infectious disease which is not as much life threatening as it is crippling. Also known as ‘Poliomyelitis’ in medical terms, it is a disease caused by the deadly ‘Poliovirus’ usually affecting children under 5 years of age, for this reason, it is also known as ‘Infantile Paralysis’. The virus mainly affects the nervous system, leaving the person with a weak crippled leg and unable to walk normally throughout his life.

WHY WORLD POLIO DAY IS CELEBRATED? World polio Day 2018
The World Polio Day is celebrated every year like this year’s World Polio Day 2018 with the main objective that is – to completely eradicate polio from all the parts of the world, making the world ‘Polio Free’. The birth of Jonas Salk, who led the team for developing the first vaccine for Poliomyelitis, along with commemorating the efforts of millions of dedicated employees and volunteers of the organizations committed to the cause. Every year WORLD POLIO DAY is celebrated like World Polio Day 2017 was celebrated. And thus Every Year Theme is there like World POLIO DAY 2018 Theme.
As POLIO DATES 2018 is elaborated on my BLOG, Several POLIO DATES 2018 and also in coming years Are needed to TAke hard Action against polio as well as Eradicate from every Part of World.
*SEVERAL Steps Taken can be seen. Some like-
Pulse Polio is an immunisation campaign established by the Govt. of India to eliminate poliomyelitis (polio) in India by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against the Polio Virus.
MAIN Aim of PULSE polio or WORLD Polio Day 2018 should be that Preventing Pulse Polio.
The Pulse Polio Initiative (PPI) aims at covering every individual in the country.
Not a single child should miss the immunisation.
Maintaining a high level of surveillance
Outbreak response immunisation (ORI) to be conducted as early as possible.
THEREFORE World Poli Day 2018 is Not the only initiative by the Rotatory club but Should be Duty of OURS to Make sure that each Child is given PULSE POLIO and POLIO DROPS so when we organise WORLD POLIO DAY next Year, LEss no. the child should be Affected bu POLIO. THIS WILL justify Real meaning of World POLIO DAY 2018 THEME and World Polio Day 2018 too.
